Senior QA Engineer (#8110)
Position Description:
This is a senior position that will require independent thought and good judgment skills. This person will be expected to be a leader in the test organization. The engineer will interact with all groups within the CloudShield organization, and may interact with Customers and Partners.
Key Responsibilities:
- Research to determine best test equipment and tools to support test requirements.
- Research to determine best ways to do the required testing (positive and negative testing.)
- Write Test Plans including scheduling estimates, skill and equipment requirements, and dependencies.
- Write Test Specifications. Provide leadership while performing execution of the test specifications.
- Execute Test Cases (Write and Run automated tests.)
- Document scripts, configurations, procedures, test results, and defects discovered.
- Represent Test in Planning and Status meetings; as well as Documentation and Code reviews.
- Proven ability to lead QA projects/teams.
Qualifications:
- Thorough understanding of Development and Test Processes.
- Thorough understanding and experience in many of the following:
- WAN: Sonet, T3/1/0, E3/1/0, Voice/VoIP Signaling and Addressing.
- LAN: Ethernet 10/100/1000, TCP/IP, Ipv4/Ipv6, Routing, QOS, PPP, VPN, VLAN, MPLS.
- Network Management: SNMP, MIB, RMON, GUI (web based.)
- Network Applications: Web Servers, HTTP, PHP, DHCP, DNS, NFS/NIS, FTP/TFTP, RPC.
- Network Security: Firewall, IPSec/Encryption, DDOS
- Excellent Written and Oral communications skills, ability to work in a team environment.
- Project leadership experience within a Development or Test organization.
- Some coding or scripting experience in a production environment or automation environment.
- Experience with Load Generating and Bulk Call Test Equipment (IXIA, SmartBits, AX4000, etc.)
- Experience with configuration and operation of various WAN routers (Cisco, Juniper, Foundry, etc.)
- Basic understanding of physical layer impairments in a WAN environment (delay, noise, etc.)
- Familiar with Linux & Windows 2000/XP, skilled using MS Project, Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
- BSEE or BSCS / 5+ years of Telecommunications Development or Test Experience.
Desired Qualifications:
- Deep understanding of one or more coding languages (C, Python, Perl, Expect, TCL/tk, Visual Basic.)
- Deep understanding and experience with operating systems (Linux, UNIX.)
- Experience with source control systems and building software (make, CVS or Perforce, etc.)
- Experience testing compilers.
- MSEE or MSCS / 7+ years of Telecommunications Development or Test Experience
